Taking vital signs (BP, pulse, temp, O2, respirations) * Assisting with ADLs: bathing, toileting, dressing, feeding * Helping patients move, walk, or transfer safely * Keeping patients clean, comfortable, and safe * Monitoring and reporting changes in patient condition Collecting specimens (urine, stool, etc.) * Assisting nurses during procedures * Performing glucose checks (if trained) * Stocking rooms, supplies, and equipment

Take vital signs of mothers (and possibly babies, depending on policy), monitor intake/output, skin integrity, weight, etc. * Assist mothers with activities of daily living (ADLs) -- e.g. helping with hygiene, peri-care (especially after delivery or C-section), helping them get to/from bathroom, shower/wash up, mobility/ambulation if needed. * Support newborn or infant-related tasks, when allowed: some PCAs/CNAs report tasks like baby baths, diaper changes, helping with feeding or comforting, weighing babies, assisting with simple newborn care or transitions (e.g. to/from nursery or NICU) * Help with admissions, transfers, and discharges -- getting rooms ready, setting up for new moms/babies, helping tidy or clear rooms post discharge, or helping transfer babies if needed. * Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment -- restocking supplies, cleaning rooms, disposing of waste, making beds/linens, ensuring patient comfort and safety. * Provide support for mother-baby care/education -- at least indirectly: PCAs may assist nurses or staff when new mothers are learning newborn care, feeding, postpartum recovery, mobility, hygiene, etc.
